Sustainability
Design With Purpose
At OBJ STUDIO, sustainability is the base of our work. Design should feel good in the home and sit light on the planet. Each piece aims to bring calm, function, and care together in one form.
Material Choice
We use PLA (polylactic acid), a plant-based bioplastic made from corn, sugarcane, and other renewable sources. It replaces fossil fuel plastics and lowers impact.
Mindful Production
3D printing builds each piece layer by layer. This keeps waste low, uses less material, and lets us make what is needed instead of holding large stock.
Made to Last
Simple lines and calm forms help each design stay in use for a long time. Long life for each object means fewer replacements and less waste.

From Plant to Object
PLA comes from sugarcane and corn. These crops are processed into starch-based feedstock, then spun into the filament our printers use. We source our material from suppliers who align with our commitment to quality.
In the studio, that filament becomes vases, trays, and lighting. Each piece grows layer by layer, shaped through controlled, deliberate printing.
Low-Waste Studio Practice
Our printers run in small batches in our Toronto studio. Test pieces and offcuts stay low. When we can, we reuse trial parts and colour tests for new ideas.
We keep stock lean as well. Many items are made to order or in short runs so that storage and unused goods stay low.
End of Life and Care
PLA can break down in some industrial composting systems. Access and rules can differ by city, so local guidance is key.
We encourage long-term use first. Care, repair, and reuse keep each object in your home rather than in a bin.
Our Mission
OBJ STUDIO seeks a future where design, quality, and ethics stay linked. By choosing Toronto-made, plant-based pieces, you take part in this path. Each object is a small step toward homes that feel thoughtful and kinder to the planet.
